Progression review

Reassess when the clinical picture changes.

Progression review is a defined route for reassessing information when a new scan, symptom, test result, treatment response or disease change raises further questions. Its usefulness depends on the quality of the information and the agreed scope.

What the review may organise

The timeline

Diagnosis, treatment lines and relevant dates in one place.

Prior responses

Previous responses, side effects or reasons for stopping treatment, where documented.

New findings

New imaging, pathology, biomarker or molecular results.

Questions to discuss

Questions for the treating clinician or a multidisciplinary discussion, including what information may still be needed.

When a new molecular report is part of the picture

If progression prompts a new tumour or plasma test, the findings may be considered through POAS, including possible resistance alterations and trial questions. A Molecular Tumour Board may be considered where several specialists’ perspectives would help.

Urgent medical needs

Progression review does not replace urgent assessment for rapidly worsening symptoms. Urgent concerns should be managed by the responsible clinical team or local emergency services.
